This video documents a major update from Hanshin Electric Railway in celebration of its 120th anniversary in April 2025. The railway operator has begun converting its 8000 series train cars to the iconic “akadōsha” (red and silver) color scheme, reviving a beloved classic look for the line. Viewers get to see these newly repainted trains in operation, capturing both their transit and arrival scenes.
A further highlight in the video is the reveal of a unique Hanshin Tigers 90th anniversary commemorative wrapped train. This special train, featuring detailed graphics of Tigers baseball players, celebrates the professional baseball team’s rich history and connection to the region. Only one train set in the 8000 series will receive this exclusive wrap and is scheduled to operate until December 2025.
Filmed in May 2025, the video includes detailed scenes of the akadōsha trains and the Tigers anniversary wrap at various stations along the Hanshin line. The visual update not only honors Hanshin Electric Railway’s long-standing legacy but also showcases its collaboration with the Hanshin Tigers, a central aspect of Kansai’s sports and pop culture. The Hanshin Main Line, running through areas like Osaka and Kobe in Hyōgo Prefecture, is a key commuter and sightseeing route, making these commemorative trains of great interest for both train enthusiasts and visitors exploring the Kansai region.
