By 日本とアジアの車窓から

This video presents a full-length train cab view on the JR Kyushu Nagasaki Main Line, traveling from Isahaya (諫早) to Hizen-Hama (肥前浜). The journey is filmed from the right-hand side window of an iconic National Railways-era KiHa 47 diesel railcar, providing a clear view of the scenic landscapes of Nagasaki Prefecture. Viewers can enjoy not only the changing regional scenery but also the onboard announcements by Yoko Hirayama and the characteristic engine noises of the KiHa 47.

Starting at Isahaya Station, the local train stops at several stations, including Higashi-Isahaya, Hizen-Nagata, Kooe, Yugoe, Nagasato, Konagai, Hizen-Ooura, Tara, Hizen-Iida, Hizen-Nanaura, and concludes at Hizen-Hama. This rural stretch of the Nagasaki Main Line is known for its picturesque countryside views and its importance as a connector within the Kyushu rail network. Train enthusiasts may find particular interest in watching this historic railcar in service; all trains on this section will be modernized and replaced by the YC1 diesel multiple unit from July 2025.

The Nagasaki Main Line has long served as a key transportation corridor in western Kyushu, linking urban and rural communities across the region. Isahaya itself is a transportation hub in Nagasaki Prefecture, connecting multiple lines, while Hizen-Hama is located in a quieter part of Saga Prefecture, known for its traditional towns and local industries.

As KiHa 47 railcars become a rare sight, this recording provides a timely look at classic Japanese rail travel before the shift to new technology. The video is appealing not just to railfans but also to viewers interested in Japan’s regional scenery and daily life along the rails.
